Visualization
Service Overview

Visualization is broad in scope but encompasses 3D computer modelling and animation, architectural rendering, and visual impact assessment. Our staff are trained in the latest 3D software applications for visualization. Output can include still images, 3D animations, or interactive 3D models (where users can interact with the models in real time).

Our architectural renderers work in a variety of mediums including pen and ink, marker, pencil crayon, watercolour and digital media. The process usually begins by creating a rough 3D model to allow the client to select the most appropriate vantage point for the sketch. From here, our artists add life to the scene and create the final renderings.

Visual Resource Management (VRM) is an approach for managing visual qualities in our environment. VRM often uses a computer imaging technique referred to as ‘digital image manipulation’, to modify existing images or merge scenes to create new images. The resultant imagery can provide a subjective impression of proposed changes or, coupled with other computer technologies (CAD, 3-D modelling), can provide a very accurate representation of future landscapes. Visual resource management objectives can answer simple questions like “what will a proposed landscape look like in the future” or the technique can be coupled with statistical procedures to gauge public visual preference. Visual quality indices can be used to document and map important vistas and viewsheds while determining ‘acceptable levels of change’. From these findings, design guidelines can be prepared to protect significant viewsheds.
